The universal joy of hearing your baby’s heartbeat for the first time

Hearing your baby’s heartbeat? It’s the same in every language

At Kit & Kin, giving back has always been an integral part of who we are and what we do. It’s thanks to the amazing support from our customers which allows us to fund a range of environmental and community projects through the Kit & Kin Foundation, one of which focuses on providing local healthcare and family planning clinics for women and children in rural areas.

In Guatemala, Kit & Kin and World Land Trust are working alongside local partner FUNDAECO to support sustainable community development in Sierra Santa Cruz, a mountain range in the north-east of the country. Although this region may be rich in biodiversity and natural resources, it is inhabited by some of the poorest indigenous communities in the Americas with very low standards of education and health, particularly among mothers and children.

Meet 23-year-old Thelma from the remote village of Barra Sarstun, who is 5 months pregnant. Previously, she had to travel for an hour by sea to reach her nearest clinic, but now, thanks to your support, there’s one very close by in the village. This new clinic has been vital in providing healthcare access for the community, particularly for women like Thelma, and has helped reduce the maternal and child mortality rate.

Every product purchased by you, whether it’s nappies, wipes, skincare or clothing, helps support women like Thelma, so they can keep themselves and their families safe and healthy.
