About Kit & Kin
Why did you choose the name Kit & Kin
Kit & Kin is a play on the phrase Kith and Kin.
Kith comes from a word of Germanic origin meaning ‘known’. Kin is also of Germanic origin, from an Indo-European root meaning ‘give birth to’. Your kith are your friends or acquaintances, while your kin are all the people you are related to.
We want to help protect our friends and family with a range of safe, affordable and eco friendly products, hence the name Kit & Kin. Real products for real families!

Why should I choose Kit & Kin nappies?
Kit & Kin is the hypoallergenic nappy made with sustainable materials, premium performance and adorable designs. Featuring a part natural high-tech absorbent core that uses significantly fewer chemicals than standard nappies, Kit & Kin helps protect your baby’s soft and delicate skin to safeguard it from sensitive skin problems such as eczema and nappy rash.
Kit & Kin protects the environment too. We use sustainable materials to help end our dependency on non-renewable resources and protect the future resources of your baby’s world. Our super absorbent core contains chlorine-free fluff pulp harvested from sustainably managed forests and our front panels, tapes, anti-leak barriers and packaging are all made from an oxo-biodegradable material.
We are proud to support the work of the World Land Trust. For every 10 nappy subscriptions we receive, we will purchase and protect one acre of the rainforest through the World Land Trust.
Together, we can make a real difference.
Why should I choose Kit & Kin babywear?
Our babywear range is made from 100% GOTS-certified organic cotton that is super soft and sustainably sourced.
Our children are exposed to an increasing number of pollutants in many aspects of normal everyday life so choosing organic fibres is another step towards living a natural healthier lifestyle. Baby’s skin is thinner and more fragile than adults. It is also less resistant to bacteria and harmful substances in the environment, especially when irritated, so it is therefore only natural that we want to dress them in fabrics that have not been treated with any chemicals or pesticides.
The farming of organic cotton does not use pesticides and other harmful toxins associated with the production of conventional cotton. Safer methods include crop rotation, physical removal of weeds instead of using herbicides, hand hoeing and using beneficial insects to counteract the bad. As a result, workers have better conditions, water quality is not compromised by run-off, and strong healthy soil is built. The end product is an organic cotton fabric and yarn that is toxic-free.
Not only does our babywear feel and look good, it also does good too. As part of our Giving Back programme with the World Land Trust (WLT), every item of the range purchased helps fund sustainable community development projects in Guatemala, providing educational scholarships, healthcare and family planning clinics for local young women. Through your support, together we can continue to empower women all over the world.
What are Kit & Kin nappies made from?
We have replaced much of the plastic materials you find in standard nappies with sustainable materials that are not only kinder to your baby’s skin but also helps to protect the future resources of our world
The nappy’s absorbent core is made from natural cellulose (wood pulp) that is sourced from an FSC certified forest. This ensures that the wood pulp we use is from an eco-responsible, sustainably managed forest. The fluff is bleached using oxygen, not chlorine.
The nappy’s backsheet (outer layer of our nappy) is 100% sustainable, derived from plant starch. The top sheet (between baby’s bum and the absorbent core) is made of a biodegradable PLA ( Polylactic acid). PLA might sound scary but is not and is ‘harmless’ bioplastic that has been derived from corn starch, a renewable resource.
The nappy’s elastic leg cuffs and stretchy side panels have been designed to ensure a snug fit and superior performance.
The outer packaging is also made from oxo biodegradable material and is GMO free.
Traditional nappies are primarily made from plastics, a non-renewable resource derived from oil. These plastic nappies will take anything up to 500 years to biodegrade. Furthermore, let’s not forget oil is a finite resource that will eventually run out.
Kit & Kin nappies have been made using the same technical and production process as traditional nappies, the difference being we have replaced much of the plastic materials with sustainable materials that are kinder to our baby’s skin and help protect the future resources of our world.
